For a reason too, I get to that later here. Archers, barracks and mages have the shortest upgrade paths ( 9 stars to fully upgrade), artillery 10, rain of fire 13, call reinforcements 15 (the longest). Pros do no-upgrade challenges, and game instantly becomes difficult again, just to highlight that they really matter! Each of those award you an additional star, so you can get 5 stars out of a level, oh those sweet upgrades! But mind you, those challenges have upgrade level restrictions (it stated in description), at first you can only do level 1 upgrades (reset your upgrades, and do the first lower row of all of them, archers to reinforcements, to get the most of it), then you can do lvl 2 upgrades (fill the second row, start doing those challenges when you have enough stars for that), then lvl 3 etc. After finishing a mission with 3 stars, you can additionally do Heroic (same level on steroids, less waves though) and Iron challenges (has tower restrictions), you have 1 heart there, so no one should be leaking. Upgrades affect a great deal, so you want as many stars as possible. You'll get 3 stars if you finish with 18-20 hearts (so you don't want more than 2 regular enemies leaking), 2 stars for 6-17, one for less. Mages completely ignore armour, artillery ignores half of armour (great at stallzone), put that to use, you had a bit of trouble because you hadn't enough of those, learn which enemies have armour and to what degree, light-armoured like ogres are not a problem, but for bigger guys you want mages. Use barracks rally point better to cunningly plan your stallzone. Especially for artillery it's good, since enemies getting cluster together, and arty has the slowest reload time among tower classes. Bring artillery, archers, mages around killzone, so they are killing enemies that are occupied fighting your troops. Just cement it with one barracks (sometimes two, no more is usually useful), a hero and add reinforcements there in the fight. Resetting timer makes you use abilities faster! So it's cool to use them before clicking on wave early, a lot of times you'll get two set of reinforcements in a row that way, as cool down will be instant! Rain of fire also decreases it's cooldown as much as early you call next wave. So get used to calling them as early as you get, but instantly calling all of them also a bad idea (unless you're well of experience), you just need to calculate when you call a wave early and not get overwhelmed. Calling a wave early gives you a little money bonus and partially resets cooldown on your abilities (the faster you call it - the more of those you get). Android version has Gnome Shop where you can buy items for gems (you earn them as you play) that will help you beating the game (though I would recommend trying to do without it). Number 1 for Rain of Fire, 2 are Reinforcements, spacebar is your hero, W for calling a wave early (you can also click on skull at lower-right part of the screen for that). If you're playing Steam version on PC, use keyboard shortcuts to do easier and faster. Just use them to experiment and have fun yourself! Sorry for long post, hope you'll see it enjoy and make a good use of it, I'm a KR veteran with huge of experience. I want to give you some protips so you should have more fun and do better. Linirea Survival Guide for Beginner Generals Critique, opinions, additions, discussion and questions are welcome. It's all just my opinion too, except for numbers and core mechanics (usually in italics), don't take it as a fact, however, it what works for me. If it gets any need, I'll expand it with other facts, opinions and advanced tower/heroes overview later. But if you'll find in helpful, give a link to new players, hope it really helps them, I'll be glad if so, it will instantly make them considerably better players I believe. Of course, most of the audience here knows all these facts (although some might learn a thing or two, especially about lesser-known stuff), so don't bother saying it's redundant, it's not meant for you, other veterans. DISCLAIMER: I wasn't about to write 101, I wrote that for youtube commentary in the video of a streamer that just started and did first area at KR 1, and in order not waste what I did, I'll also leave it too, just slightly edited.
